The King George VI stamps from Grenada were printed from 1937 until about 1952. The initial set was printed by three printers. Harrison & Sons printed the 1/4d values, Waterlow and Sons printed the 5/ issues, and De La Rue printed the 10/ stamps. As a result, you will find that the 1/4d values come on both chalk and substitute (no chalk) coated paper, the values up to 5/ can be identified by the paper and gum primarily - although there is a perforation change which will also help you. The 10/ issues are the most interesting. You will find perforation changes, two paper widths, and some variation in the paper and gum. As a result, it is my feeling that all of the 10/ issues can be identified. Please see this web site for more details on identifying the Grenada 10/ values. There was also a 1951 set, but it was only in use for a couple of years, so there are no catalog listed varieties.

The pages were created using information presented by W. J. W. Potter & Lt. Col. R. C. M. Shelton in their "The Printings of King George VI Colonial Stamps" which was published by Stamp Collecting Ltd. in December, 1952. The publication listed tables for each of the countries' issues that were included. The listings of "BKxx" was created to tie the Commonwealth numbers into the Potter & Shelton listings. They are unique to my collection, so won't tie into anything you might find familiar. So where you see BK01, it is CW 1 from the current catalogue. BK01N1 means it is not listed in Commonwealth.

The pages are from my collection, and are identified by the Commonwealth and Gibbons numbers in that order. The corresponding Scott numbers are listed in the table below.
